On this slide I will explain the artistic intention I had whilst creating my posters for 'Benefits'. Taking inspiration from 'This is England' and 'Natural Born Killers' but not 'Fridge' as it didn't have a poster.
My goal, is to create 2 posters that represent my film, conform to the conventions of the social realism film genre and appeal to a wide audience. I took the majority of my inspiration from the 'This is England Poster' as it followed most of the conventions I present in my film. I liked the use of settings, the characters are stood in a long line, leaning against a brick wall. This is very effective and simple. The entire cast is presented in the photography, I wanted to create something similar to this. I also liked the use of lighting and font, it is shot in natural day light, this makes it seem more realistic and follows the social realism genre conventions, the font is bold and big, this caught my eye and made me interested, this is ideal and I wanted to mirror this in my poster. In the powerpoint below, I have presented my researched film images and compared it to my film poster to discuss similarities and differences. I also present my intentions through imagery, fonts and text.
