Q3.What have you learned from your audience feedback?
On this slide I will be discussing my audience feedback, I attempted to use multiple media types to present this, the first 20 people I interviewed I have written out in question answer form, I have two voice clips from another audience member who answers two questions and I have 11 videos that I recorded off my iphone and transferred through itunes of different people watching my film and answering the questions. I also posted my film on Facebook and youtube in order to gain more audience feedback. Throughout the process of listening to my audience feedback I have learned a lot of things, such as I am correct in my target audience as I was unsure at first as to whom my film would be targeted to, but since listening to audience feedback I am confident in my decision to target teenagers from the age of 17 but also adults and family members as by the use of voice over I am able to connect with a wider, older audience as it also presents the interior nexus of thoughts and feelings from the mothers point of view. I have learned that the film companies that would produce my film would be companies such as Warp or film 4, who are most commonly known to produce and distribute independent and independent spirited films. I have learned that my film could both deviate and conform to the typical Social Realism genre, as before my audience feedback I assumed that it would just conform, however through the use of 1930's non diegetic music by 'Bessie Smith' and the voice recordings, I am able to deviate away from the typical conventions of a Realist film. I have learned that each audience individual have different opinions and views of my film, the majority being positive but some negative, those being that one would have rather used longer shots and spent more time on one as it can sometimes be to quick, and also that an audience member would have liked not to see the 'typical' teenager being presented as a smoker, rebelling from their families beliefs and views, however but because my film is coming from the point of view as the carer teenager 'Lily' it gives the audience a chance to understand what life is like as a teenager looking after an alcoholic sick mother, coming from the carers point of view which the audience have been extremely positive and agree that this is a chance to show other people what it is like from the characters perspective.
The questions
Can the genre of the genre of the film be identified? How?

2. Probably a Social Realism film, you can tell through the narrative- Aimee
3. Being a film student myself, I would say it would fall under the British Social Realism genre as it follows the conventions, it is quite similar to films such as 'Catfish' 'This is England' and 'Billy Elliot' due to the settings and themes used.- Flow
4. Maybe a Drama because of the story- Helena

How does this meet or deviate from the genre?
1. This would meet the genre as it uses natural settings- Kim
2. This would deviate from the genre as it uses old rustic 1930's music and this is uncommon in most Social Realism films- Abbie
3. I reckon that this film meets the typical genre due to choice of narrative and story-line- Tom
4. I think this would deviate from the genre as it continually references back to Ab Fab which isnt social realism but
5. It meets the genre because of the style, its editing is quite grainy and the shots are dark and dull, this is common of a realistic film- Olivia
